'I would just be happy and be grateful' - Narayan Jagadeesan has eyes on favourite franchise ahead of IPL 2027 [Exclusive Interview]

Narayan Jagadeesan has been away from the buzz around the Indian Premier League (IPL), but his excellent run of form and match-readiness in domestic cricket has signified that teams and scouts can certainly keep their eyes on the skilled wicketkeeper-batter ahead of the 2027 edition of the cash-rich league.

Jagadeesan has shared the dressing room with the championship-winning teams – Kolkata Knight Riders and MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings – in the past. Across 13 IPL matches he has featured in thus far, the Tamil Nadu-born cricketer has scored 162 runs, although he has had a modest strike rate, which is against the ideology of modern-day T20 cricket.

However, Jagadeesan learnt his lessons hard and has certainly become a much-accomplished T20 batter in the shortest format of the game. His overall T20 numbers are far better, though, as he has 1666 runs in 68 innings at an average of 31.43, which also includes eleven half-centuries.

During a candid conversation with CricTracker, Jagadeesan has shared anecdotes from his KKR days, while also answering the query around which IPL side he would like to be a part of next.

“I mean, it is after the match when we met. The entire team, we had a get-together. And Shah Rukh Khan was also there. And, you know, that moment was really special. And that is something which I would definitely cherish for a long time.”

"Honestly, I have never thought about it. But, you know, it is not like I am in a situation where I can pick. But I would just be happy and be grateful if I am in an IPL team and, you know, I am able to translate those opportunities into winning matches for a franchisee. I have all teams in my mind."
