IND A vs AUS A 2025: No Rohit, Kohli in India A squad for one-day series

The All India Men's Senior Selection Committee, headed by Ajit Agarkar, has named the India A squad for the upcoming three-match one-day series against Australia A, scheduled to be played in Kanpur. Contrary to the recent speculations, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are missing.
Ace batter Rajat Patidar has been named as the captain for the first fixture, whereas, Tilak Varma will be leading the side for the rest of the series after completing his duties with the senior side for the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. Notably, star cricketer Shreyas Iyer has been kept out of the scheme of things from the strong squad, which also features the likes of Harshit Rana and Riyan Parag.
Iyer has had a brilliant year with the Indian team in the 50-over internationals in recent years. After a standout performance in the ODI World Cup 2023, where he scored 530 runs in a campaign where India finished as runners-up. In the next ICC event in the one-day format, the Mumbai-born was once again brilliant, ending as India's highest run-getter in a triumphant 2025 Champions Trophy.
However, logic suggests that Iyer might be called into the national team for the upcoming Test series against the West Indies, beginning in Ahmedabad on October 2. The three one-day matches will be played on September 30, October 3 and 5, with all fixtures scheduled at Green Park Stadium. If not, then Iyer could also be a part of the Rest of India squad for the upcoming Irani Cup against Vidarbha.

2nd and 3rd one-day: Tilak Varma (C), Rajat Patidar (VC), Abhishek Sharma, Prabhsimran Singh (WK), Riyan Parag, Ayush Badoni, Suryansh Shedge, Vipraj Nigam, Nishant Sindhu, Gurjapneet Singh, Yudhvir Singh, Ravi Bishnoi, Abishek Porel (WK), Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh.
