Lucknow witnessed another dominant performance from Team India on June 17, 2026, as the hosts outclassed Afghanistan in the second ODI of the three-match series. Playing at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, India produced a complete all-round display, with the batters setting up a massive total before the bowlers wrapped up the contest comfortably. Among several standout moments from the match, one particular dismissal grabbed attention as young pacer Prince Yadav celebrated a major milestone in his international career by claiming his maiden ODI wicket.
The memorable moment arrived during the latter stages of Afghanistan’s chase when Prince finally got the reward for an impressive spell with the ball. Having earlier seen a wicket wiped out because of an overstep, the debutant remained patient and continued to hit disciplined areas.
Bowling from around the wicket, Prince delivered a beautiful length ball that straightened slightly after pitching. Nangeyalia Kharoti attempted to defend from the crease but was completely squared up by the movement. The batter played down the wrong line as the ball sneaked past the outside edge, brushed the back leg and crashed into the stumps. The off stump was sent cartwheeling as Prince immediately folded his hands and looked skyward in celebration.
There was a brief moment of nervousness as Prince and his teammates glanced towards the umpire to ensure the delivery was legal. Once the confirmation arrived, the young fast bowler broke into celebration after securing his maiden ODI scalp. The wicket reduced Afghanistan further in their chase and marked a special milestone for the promising pacer, who finished the match with two wickets on debut.
Impressive debut outing 🙌

India’s victory was built on a sensational batting effort led by Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan. Gill and Rohit Sharma steadied the innings before Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan removed Rohit just short of a half-century. That wicket brought Kishan to the crease, and what followed was complete domination. Gill and Kishan stitched together a breathtaking 224-run partnership for the third wicket, dismantling the Afghan bowling attack with a combination of elegant strokeplay and aggressive intent.
Gill continued his remarkable form with a magnificent 154, while Kishan smashed a blistering 125 to propel India beyond the 400-run mark. Although Afghanistan fought back well at the death through Kharoti’s four-wicket haul and Rashid’s three scalps, India still managed to post a daunting 402. In reply, Afghanistan never truly threatened the target despite a fighting 79 from Rahmat Shah and a quick 41 from Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar led the bowling effort with three wickets each, while Prince Yadav chipped in with two crucial strikes. Afghanistan were eventually bundled out for 232, handing India a comprehensive 170-run victory and an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. The win also highlighted the growing depth in India’s pace-bowling reserves, with Prince making a memorable start to his ODI career.
