Day 3 of the second Test between India and South Africa in Guwahati was dominated by the visitors, but ace pacer Mohammed Siraj provided a fun moment while fielding. A humorous incident between Siraj and the Spidercam quickly went viral.
South Africa began Day 3 on a strong note after posting 489 in their first innings. India, already under pressure in the series, collapsed to 201 in reply, handing the Proteas a 288-run lead. Marco Jansen’s impressive 6/48 gave the visitors the upper hand, while Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav’s fightback was the lone bright spot for the hosts.
By stumps, South Africa chose not to enforce the follow-on and extended their lead to 314, closing the day at 26/0. Amid India’s struggles, Siraj, who ended with figures of 2/106 in the first innings and delivered a three-over spell in the second, grabbed attention on the field.
Late in the final session, with South Africa starting their second innings, the Spidercam was seen hovering near Siraj during fielding. The pacer casually took off his hat and placed it over the camera lens, momentarily “blinding” the broadcast view. Following this, the Spidercam operator lowered the device towards him, almost requesting him to remove it. Siraj initially ignored the hint until the completion of the delivery. Once the ball was bowled, he walked up and removed the hat, waving at the camera as

Despite the fun moment, Siraj was one of India’s better bowlers in the first innings, dismissing Tony de Zorzi and Senuran Muthusamy. In South Africa’s second innings, he conceded just eight runs in three overs.
