Brian Lara's hilarious request to Yashavi Jaiswal has gone viral on social media. Jaiswal scored a 258-ball 175 in India's first innings of the second Test against West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Lara, who was in attendance on Day 2 of the ongoing contest, shared a light-hearted moment with Jaiswal on the ground after the day's play. The ex-West Indian southpaw congratulated the opening batter and jokingly told him to not batter the West Indian bowlers from next time.
“Don’t beat our bowlers that bad,” Lara told Jaiswal while congratulating him on his knock.
The hilarious remark was met with laughs and a warm hug between the two before Lara walked past towards another section of the ground. Jaiswal then expressed his sentiments on the kind of mindset he had while batting against the Windies.
Jaiswal commented on how he always keeps the team before his personal milestones. He also mentioned his hunger of converting starts into big scores and capitalising on the situation.
“I always put the team first, how I can play for my team, and what is important for my team at that moment in time. So, I always think that, and that gives me the answer to how I can play, what shots I can play, how the wicket is, and if I’m there, I make sure that I take it as long as I can. That is all my mindset: that if I have a start, I make sure that I make it big, just like that," remarked Jaiswal.
Meanwhile, West Indies trail India by 97 runs at stumps on Day 3 as John Campbell (87* off 145) and Shai Hope (66* off 103) stood unbeaten. Earlier, the hosts enforced the follow-on after bowling their opponents out for 248 in the first innings.
