IND vs WI, 2025: India vs West Indies, 2nd Test Match Preview

India and the West Indies square off at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi in the second and final Test match, starting on Friday, October 10. The hosts have a 1-0 lead in the series, having won the first Test by an innings and 140 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

In the first Test, the West Indies failed to put up any sort of fight against the strong Indian team. While India lost just five wickets in the Test match, the tourists were bowled out twice inside three days. India did well with the ball, but there was nothing in the pitch that would justify getting dismissed twice in three days.

The West Indies batters lacked application, throwing their wickets away to some loose deliveries. In the second Test, they will look to take care of the controllables and come out with a resolute performance. While beating India might be difficult, the Roston Chase-led side will want to show some fight and give the Asian giants a scare. Senior players like Chase and Shai Hope will have to step up and show the way.

For India, all eyes will be on Sai Sudharsan, who hasn't been able to live up to his potential so far in Test cricket. In the first Test, he was dismissed for 7. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill scored 36 and 50, respectively, in the first Test. They would love to register three-figure scores in Delhi. Meanwhile, the likes of KL Rahul, Dhurv Jurel, and Ravindra Jadeja would want to build on their centuries in the last game.

The surface at the Arun Jaitley Stadium is expected to be on the drier side. Spinners could get more assistance as the game goes on. The first two innings could be good for batting, with a lot of runs on offer. The captain who wins the toss would want to bat first. If the team which bats first can post a big first-innings total, it will push the opposition team behind the eight-ball.
