IND W vs AUS W 2025: India Women vs Australia Women 2nd ODI Match Preview

India Women will look to bounce back strongly in the second ODI when they face Australia Women at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh on Wednesday, September 17.
Harmanpreet Kaur-led India will be reeling after their defeat to Australia in the first ODI, even after putting up a decent total. The Indian captain admitted after the match that her team was 20-30 runs short. However, Australia were comprehensive with the bat, chasing down a 282-run target in 44.1 overs, with eight wickets to spare.
Even if India had 20-30 more runs added to their total, Australia would have most likely chased it down. The Indian bowlers, however, created opportunities, but the fielding let them down. Phoebe Litchfield, who was the Player of the Match for her 80-ball 88, was dropped on nought by Jemimah Rodrigues. Against a quality team like Australia, India can ill-afford slip-ups in the field.
India will take heart from the performance of their top-three batters, who all scored half-centuries. However, the middle-order will have to provide the impetus at the back end of the innings, in case the top three contribute once again. Australia's impeccable squad depth saw Alyssa Healy use eight bowlers in the first game. This is a huge advantage of the Women in Yellow, as they are not allowing the Indian batters to get accustomed to a particular bowler.
The surface at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh, in the first ODI was fairly good for batting. However, some of the quicker bowlers used cutters to good effect, especially when the ball got old. The captain who wins the toss would not mind chasing on Wednesday, as assessing a good score could be an arduous task.
