The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that Team India's preliminary squad for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 will be announced on Saturday, December 20. India will also be co-hosting the marquee twenty-team tournament alongside Sri Lanka, marking the second home T20 World Cup for both the countries.
India are likely to be led by Suryakumar Yadav, as the Men's Senior Selection Committee chief Ajit Agarkar will be reading out the names who will hit the field running for the global event, to be played between February 7 and March 8. The squad announcement is expected to happen around 1:30 PM (Indian Standard Time) on Saturday, as Agarkar and the Indian skipper will be addressing the media from the BCCI Headquarters in Mumbai.
The squad announcement will be followed by a public press conference, where the chief selector will be reading out names to officially unveil the players who will be represented the Men in Blue for the global biannual tournament. However, those who cannot attend the conference from the BCCI headquarters will be able to catch the action live from the comfort of their screens, as the event will be broadcast and live-streamed.
