After a convincing way to clinch the series, India Women (IND-W) will face Sri Lanka Women (SL W) once again in the upcoming fourth T20I of the series at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, December 28.
India Women have easily been the deserving winners of the series, as the Lankan Lionesses have been completely outplayed by the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side. In all the three games up until now, the Women in Blue managed to chase the target with utmost comfort to make the series theirs. The next goal will be to register their fourth-straight win in the assignment.
Chamari Athapaththu's Sri Lanka Women, on the other hand, are seemingly under-confident. Their body language seems nowhere close to the potential that they boast on another day. However, lack of unity and failed game plans have likely resulted in a disappointing series loss for them. Their last goal will be to head with wins in both the remaining games.
The surface at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram during the third match on Friday had a very dry wicket, which did not allow the batters to open their arms freely and score runs at will. However, in the second innings, with dew kicking in, it got pretty easier to find the gaps, and the outfield also helped the batters a lot. A similar option must be chosen by the captain who calls it correctly at the coin toss on the Sunday evening as well.
Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (wicketkeeper), Amanjot Kaur, Renuka Singh Thakur, Vaishnavi Sharma, Shree Charani, Kranti Goud
Chamari Athapaththu (C), Vishmi Gunaratne, Hasini Perera, Harshita Samarawickrama, Kavisha Dilshari, Nilakshi Silva, Kaushani Nuthyangana (WK), Kavya Kavindi, Malki Madara, Inoka Ranaweera, Shashini Gimhani
Smriti Mandhana hasn't had the best of the series, with back-to-back single-digit scores in the second and third match, respectively. However, she is a world-class batter, and also the highest run-getter for the Women in Blue in the shortest format of the game. The Maharashtra-born will try returning to form and prove once again why she is a feared feature to any opposition.
Renuka Singh Thakur played her first match of the series in the Friday fixture, and did magic in her spell to finish with four wickets, while giving away just 21 runs. She was also the Player of the Match for this stellar performance, which also included a maiden over. The team will once again look to rely on her services, expecting her to do well with the ball.
