India opted to field first after winning the toss. They restricted Nepal to just 114 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Nepal could manage only one four throughout their innings. The run-chase was executed seamlessly as India cruised through in just 12.1 overs. 47 balls were yet to be bowled. Khula Sharir emerged as the standout player. She amassed an impressive 44 off 27. Her innings comprised four boundaries.
The Indians started off their tournament by defeating co-hosts Sri Lanka by a resounding 10-wicket margin. They then recorded a whopping 209-run win against Australia. The Nepal victory was followed by another, this time by a margin of 10 wickets against the USA. Their final group game was against arch-rivals Pakistan. India emerged victorious by eight wickets.
Like the Women's World Cup 2025, India also defeated Australia in the semi-finals to make a grand entry for the finale.
The 20-over tournament featured six teams including co-hosts India & Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Australia, Nepal and the USA. The tournament got underway on November 11 in New Delhi. Several matches were held in Bengaluru as well. Both semi-final clashes and the summit clash were played in the island nation in Colombo.
