IPL 2025: Abhishek Sharma completes 100 sixes in tournament

Sunrisers Hyderabad star opening batter Abhishek Sharma played an explosive cameo of 32 off 16 against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 25. The 24-year-old batter completed a milestone in the innin as he scored his 100th six in the league.
Abhishek's cameo included four boundaries and two sixes, which took him to 100 sixes in the IPL. The Amritsar-born completed the feat in his 75th innings and is the 41st player to reach the milestone.
The 2017 U-19 World Cup winner has also hit the most number of sixes for an SRH batter this season and is currently fifth on the overall list - behind Nicholas Pooran (40 sixes), Mitchel Marsh (32 sixes), Suryakumar Yadav (30 sixes), and Shreyas Iyer (29 sixes). The 2024 IPL finalist did not have a memorable season but the individual performances certainly stood out as positives.
Speaking of Abhishek’s performance this season, he ended with 439 runs in the 14 matches at an average of 33.76 and an impressive strike rate of 193.39, including two half-centuries and one century. He brought up his century against Punjab Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Abhishek scored a record 141 off 55 deliveries, which is the third-highest individual score in the tournament's history, only behind Chris Gayle's 175 (2013) and Brendon McCullum's 158 (2008).
It is safe to say it was another impressive season for the southpaw even though Sunrisers Hyderabad failed to fire as a team. They finished the season on a high, defeating Kolkata Knight Riders by a massive margin of 110 runs to go out with six wins, seven losses and a no result. They are currently at the sixth spot but could lose that place if Lucknow Super Giants (12 points) beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their final game of the season.
