IPL 2025: Digvesh Rathi, Abhishek Sharma engage in war of words during LSG vs SRH clash

Digvesh Rathi and Abhishek Sharma exchanged a few fiery words after the mystery spinner dismissed the top-order batter during Match 61 of IPL 2025 between Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday, May 19.

The incident occurred during the eighth over of the run-chase after Digvesh brought out his customary 'notebook celebration' upon dismissing Abhishek with a googly. As soon as the catch was completed by Shardul Thakur in the deep, Digvesh brought out his aggressive celebration.

Miffed by his antics, Abhishek walked towards the bowler before the on-field umpires and players intervened to diffuse the tension.

Abhishek was SRH's second wicket to fall and was dismissed soon after notching up an 18-ball fifty. He registered 59 (20), with his blistering knock comprising four fours and six sixes. Rathi had struck in his second over, his figures reading a miserly 1/11 in two overs up until the completion of the over in which he snagged Abhishek.

Earlier in the evening, SRH won the toss and invited LSG to bat first. Mitchell Marsh (65 off 39) and Aiden Markram (61 off 38) added 115 for the opening wicket. LSG skipper Rishabh Pant's dismal run continued. The wicketkeeper-batter scored only seven runs off six balls. Nicholas Pooran's 45 (26) helped the hosts get to a sizeable score. Eshan Malinga (2/28 in four overs) was the pick of the bowlers for SRH. He bowled a total of 10 dot deliveries during his spell.
