Chennai Super Kings signed off a season to forget with a consolation win over Gujarat Titans at Ahmedabad in Match 67 of IPL 2025.

CSK elected to bat first and were immediately stepped on the gas as Ayush Mhatre (34 off 17) went all guns blazing in the powerplay, including a 28-run over off Arshad Khan. Devon Conway (52 off 35) kept the score ticking even as Prasidh Krishna (2 for 22) was causing trouble. Urvil Patel (37 off 19) kept the blitz up, setting it up perfectly for Dewald Brevis (57 off 23). Brevis launched powerful blows at the death to lead CSK to a very strong total.

GT's chase went pretty much nowhere. For the first time in the tournament, GT lost three wickets in the powerplay with their top-order was unable to recreate the same impact they have all season. Anshul Kamboj (3 for 13) struck twice in the powerplay, while Ravindra Jadeja (2 for 17) blew the middle order apart. Noor Ahmad (3 for 21) then took care of the lower middle order to give CSK a decisive win.

CSK's win severely dented GT's chances of finishing in the top two and kept the trend of eliminated teams beating qualified ones in IPL 2025 continued.

2 - Dewald Brevis' 19-ball fifty is the joint-second fastest for CSK in the IPL. The fastest was in 16 balls by Suresh Raina against PBKS in 2014, while the 19-ball mark was reached by Moeen Ali against RR in 2022 and Ajinkya Rahane vs MI in 2023.

4 - CSK's 230 for 5 is their fourth-highest total in the IPL. The highest is their 246 for 5 against RR in 2010.

6 - 230 for 5 is also the sixth highest total at Ahmedabad in the IPL.

9 - With 170 scalps, Ravindra Jadeja has become the joint ninth-highest wicket taker in the IPL.

1 - GT's 83-run loss is their biggest loss in the IPL. Their previous highest loss margin of 63 runs had also come against CSK, in 2024.

1 - For the first time in their history, CSK have finished last on the points table in an IPL season. CSK had some close calls before finishing second from bottom in both 2020 and 2022.
