Sunrisers Hyderabad brought up their first win in five attempts over Kolkata Knight Riders with a resounding margin of 110 runs in Match 68 of IPL 2025 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The runners-up of IPL 2024 ended a quite underwhelming campaign in sensational style.
SRH racked up a massive 278/3 at the end of 20 overs after winning the toss and opting to bat first. Travis Head's thunderous 40-ball 76-run knock up top was crucial in setting up a wonderful foundation for the rest of the batters, including Heinrich Klaasen (105* off 39) to make the most of the excellent batting conditions. Klaasen recorded the third-quickest ton in the history of IPL, which comprised seven fours and nine sixes. Apart from Vaibhav Arora (1/39 in four overs), the rest of the bowlers conceded at an economy northwards of 10.
As for the run-chase, Sunil Narine looked set for a big knock. However, the West Indian was dismissed after getting to 31 off 16. Harsh Dubey's first over produced the wickets of Rinku Singh (nine off six) and Andre Russell (zero off one), as KKR crawled to just81 at the end of 10 overs. The duo of Manish Pandey (37 off 23) and Harshit Rana (34 off 21) registered a partnership of 52 off 22 to provide some respectability to the scoreboard. Jaydev Unadkat (3/24 in four overs), Eshan Malinga (3/31 in 3.4 overs), and Dubey (3/34 in four overs) starred with the ball.
