As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 resumes after a short suspension, all eyes are on the high-voltage clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. While the encounter promises drama on the field, the Bengaluru skies seem to have their own script in mind.
RCB find themselves in a commanding position, sitting at second place with 16 points from 11 matches, thanks to a string of consistent performances this season. A win today would not only solidify their playoff berth but also bolster their bid for a top-two finish — a critical advantage in the playoffs due to the qualifier-eliminator format.
KKR, meanwhile, face an uphill battle. With just 11 points from 12 games, they are placed sixth and must win both of their remaining matches to remain in contention for the playoffs. A loss or a no-result could prove fatal to their campaign.
Saturday’s weather forecast doesn’t offer much comfort to either camp. According to Google Weather, light rain is expected to begin around 6 PM — just an hour before the scheduled toss. The temperature is expected to remain around 24°C with high humidity levels nearing 89%, making conditions uncomfortable for players and fans alike. Precipitation chances are currently pegged at 40%, with wind speeds reaching 10 km/hr.

The second half of the game may see worsening conditions, with the temperature dropping slightly to 23°C, but with rain probability increasing to 45% and wind speeds tapering to 8 km/hr. These indicators suggest that interruptions or even a curtailed contest could be on the cards.
Should rain prevent the match from reaching a result, RCB would still benefit by moving a step closer to sealing a top-two finish. On the other hand, it would be a massive blow to KKR’s slim playoff hopes. With net run rate and tight points margins in play, every match counts, and losing out on two potential points due to weather could derail Kolkata’s campaign entirely.
