IPL 2025: Shubman Gill strikes sumptuous sixes off Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav to inject momentum into innings

Shubman Gill struck a couple of maximums off Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav in the ninth and tenth overs, respectively, of the run-chase during Match 60 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, May 18. The two sixes helped Gill transition into a more attacking phase and provide much-needed impetus to his side's innings.

Gill's second six came exactly an over post the first shot. A full length delivery outside off was slog swept with absolute authority by the Gujarat Titans' skipper. The third ball of the tenth over was a tossed up ball just outside off stump. Gill danced down the track to launch the ball down the ground for another blistering maximum. By that point in time, Gill had not hit a single four and was only dealing in sixes.

Delhi Capitals' bowlers were completely dominated by the visitors. The opening duo of Gill and Sai Sudharsan tore apart the home side's bowling unit. GT ended up clinching a 10-wicket victory to rack up their ninth win this season and have qualified for the playoffs.

As for DC, there still are chances for them to make the top four despite this resounding loss. The Axar Patel-led side are set to face Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings on May 21 and May 24, respectively. Both games are scheduled to commence at 7:30 pm (IST).
