After Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) record-breaking run chase against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 27 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, emotions were high, spirits were jubilant  and so were the selfies. One moment that stood out from RCB’s spirited celebrations was a hilarious, fan-favourite exchange between young RCB batter Swastik Chikara and Virat Kohli, the backbone of the franchise for over a decade.

As the team basked in the glory of their six-wicket win and booked their place in Qualifier 1 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Chikara decided it was the perfect time for a little off-field victory souvenir, a selfie with the man he admires the most.  Chikara approached Kohli with his phone, flashing a sheepish grin and asking for a quick picture. Kohli, visibly amused but playfully exasperated after a draining yet thrilling match, replied in mock frustration:

“Dimag kha raha hai mera!” (You’re eating my brain!)

Unfazed by Kohli’s jest, Chikara responded with the kind of cheeky confidence only a younger brother could muster:

“Bade bhaiya apne hain… jab mann kare tab photo le leta hoon,” (He’s my big brother, I click a photo whenever I feel like it.)

The duo laughed it off and posed for a cheerful selfie, with Chikara later posting the photo on social media with a heartfelt caption that captured the moment’s significance. Chikara, only 20 years old, is yet to make his IPL debut, but he’s already become a familiar face in RCB’s dressing room. Known for his admiration of Kohli, Chikara, who was picked by RCB at his base price of INR 30 lakh during the IPL 2025 auction.

While Chikara waits for his chance to shine on the field, his icon was once again at the center of RCB’s massive win. Kohli scored a blistering 54 off 30 balls, setting the tone for RCB’s highest-ever successful IPL run chase. Stand-in skipper Jitesh Sharma stole the show with an explosive 85 off 33 balls*, guiding the team past LSG’s daunting 237-run total in just 18.4 overs.

With 19 points in the league stage, RCB finished in the top two, securing a spot in Qualifier 1, where they will face Punjab Kings (PBKS) on May 29 in Mullanpur, Chandigarh. As RCB marches toward their elusive first IPL title, moments like the Chikara-Kohli selfie add a layer of emotion and camaraderie to the campaign.
