Punjab Kings enjoyed a competitive campaign in the Indian Premier League 2025, producing several high-scoring games and reaching the final of the tournament after a long gap of 11 years. It was a brilliant campaign for the Shreyas Iyer-led side, and in fact, among the best they have had thus far.

Their aggressive style of play and contributions from both domestic and overseas players kept them in contention throughout the season. Heading into IPL 2026, choosing the most effective four overseas players will once again be crucial for PBKS as they look to build on their strong performances and push for a deeper run in the competition.

The utility all-rounder from Afghanistan, Azmatullah Omarzai, will be a key asset for Punjab Kings in the upcoming season of the cash-rich tournament. Known for his lower-order batting and brilliant bowling, especially in the death overs, Omarzai will give Shreyas Iyer's team much-needed balance.

He strengthens Punjab Kings’ bowling line-up, linking up with Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen. Omarzai can contribute with the bat if needed. In IPL 2025, he had picked up eight wickets for the Punjab-based franchise.
