IPL 2026: Chennai Super Kings' strongest predicted XI against Royal Challengers Bengaluru
Published - 04 Apr 2026, 16:19 IST | Updated - 04 Apr 2026, 16:22 IST
The five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to play their third league game in the Indian Premier League 2026 season. They have had a disappointing start, losing their first two matches against Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), and currently sit at the bottom of the points table. CSK will be eager to bounce back from these defeats and open their account with a much-needed win.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson are likely to open the innings again. While Gaikwad showed some intent in the previous match, he failed to convert his start into a big score. Samson, on the other hand, has struggled for form, getting dismissed cheaply in both games so far. Ayush Mhatre has been a bright spot, scoring a brilliant half-century at No.3. His role will be crucial, especially if early wickets fall.
Kartik Sharma and Prashant Veer, both notable buys in the mini-auction, will be expected to deliver. Sarfaraz Khan found some rhythm in the last game and will look to build on that momentum. Shivam Dube remains a key finisher, while England all-rounder Jamie Overton adds depth with his power-hitting and ability to contribute with the ball.
The bowling unit is likely to include Khaleel Ahmed, Noor Ahmad, and Matt Henry. Noor, despite being expensive this season, has the potential to be a game-changer with his spin. Khaleel Ahmed and Matt Henry will lead the pace attack, although they have conceded runs, both have managed to pick up crucial wickets. Rahul Chahar could come in as an Impact Player and act as a tight leg-spinner in the middle overs.
Ruturaj Gaikwad (C), Sanju Samson (WK), Ayush Mhatre, Kartik Sharma, Sarfaraz Khan, Shivam Dube, Prashant Veer, Jamie Overton, Khaleel Ahmed, Noor Ahmad, Matt Henry
