Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI) cross swords in match No. 8 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, April 4.
Axar Patel and Co. started their campaign with a gritty display against Lucknow Super Giants as they chased down a 142-run target on a tricky Ekana surface after losing four wickets inside the powerplay. The six-wicket win with 17 balls left must have done wonders for the Capitals' confidence early in the new season.
Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, also started their campaign with a win against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Despite conceding 220 runs, the five-time champions batted bravely to complete the run chase in 19.1 overs with six wickets to spare. This was the first time since IPL 2012 that Mumbai won their first game in a season.
Sameer Rizvi: Sameer Rizvi made a serious impact coming in as the Impact Player in the last game. The 22-year-old showed a lot of maturity during his unbeaten knock of 70 off 47 balls to take his team home.
Ashutosh Sharma: A powerful finisher capable of clearing the ropes consistently in the death overs. He has finished matches on several occasions in the past. It was surprising not to see him being used in the last game.
Dushmantha Chameera: The experienced Sri Lankan pacer was in decent form during the 2026 T20 World Cup. He will be waiting for his opportunity to stamp his authority in IPL 2026.
Auqib Nabi: Auqib Nabi, the highest wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26, will certainly get his chance in the coming matches.
Karun Nair: Karun Nair is one of the many Indian batters waiting for an opportunity in the Delhi Capitals' side this season.
Suryakumar Yadav: India's T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav came in as the Impact Player in the last game and scored 16 off eight balls. He hasn't been in great form of late.
Corbin Bosch: Corbin Bosch is a tall, fast bowler who can also contribute with handy runs down the order.
Robin Minz: The 23-year-old wicketkeeper-batter played two matches last season for the Mumbai Indians.
Ashwani Kumar: The left-arm seamer was one of the finds of IPL 2025. In seven matches, he took 11 wickets. However, he wasn't used in the previous game.
Raj Bawa: Raj Bawa is a talented seam-bowling all-rounder who hasn't had many chances in the IPL. However, he could get his opportunity later in the tournament.
Prediction: With these factors in their favour, Mumbai Indians enters this match as favourites.
