Delhi Capitals (DC) will look to register back-to-back wins when they take on five-time champions Mumbai Indians on Saturday, April 4, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Axar Patel's men started their campaign with a six-wicket win against Lucknow Super Giants. The Capitals dismissed Lucknow for 141 before crashing to 26/4 inside the power play. However, Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs showed immense grit and determination to take their team home in 17.1 overs.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians are coming into this clash on the back of a commendable win against the Kolkata Knight Riders in their opening game. They chased down a 221-run target with six wickets and five balls to spare.
KL Rahul got out for a golden duck, trying to hit Mohammed Shami for a six. He will look to bounce back strongly on Saturday. Pathum Nissanka came into the first game on the back of brilliant form but struggled to adjust to the challenging surface at the Ekana. Nitish Rana spent considerable time at the crease but only managed 15 runs from 17 balls.
Axar Patel bowled well in the last game, finishing with figures of 1/17 in three overs. However, with the bat, he registered a golden duck. Tristan Stubbs played a fine knock alongside Impact Player Sameer Rizvi in the last game. The South African batter has been in terrific form of late.
David Miller is going to play the finisher's role for DC this season. He didn't get a bat in the last game but on Saturday, he could have a key role to play. Vipraj Nigam bowled just one over in the last game and conceded eight runs. It will be interesting to see how Axar uses his bowling ability.
Kuldeep Yadav took two key wickets in the last game. He could be the bowler to watch out for on Saturday. Lungi Ngidi bowled well during the T20 World Cup and has carried that form into the IPL. In the last game, he finished with figures of 3/27 in 3.4 overs.
Mukesh Kumar bowled a tight spell inside the power play in the last game but went wicketless. He would want to get among the wickets on Saturday. T Natarajan was dealing with fitness concerns last season and couldn't play too many games. However, he bowled a magnificent spell in the last match, picking up a three-for.
Pathum Nissanka, KL Rahul (WK), Nitish Rana, Tristan Stubbs, David Miller, Axar Patel (C), Vipraj Nigam, Kuldeep Yadav, Lungi Ngidi, Mukesh Kumar, T Natarajan Impact Player: Sameer Rizvi
