Gujarat Titans edged past Delhi Capitals by one run in Match 14 of the Indian Premier League 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in a last-ball thriller.

Asked to bat first, GT posted a formidable 210/4 in 20 overs, with Shubman Gill leading from the front with a composed 70-run knock alongside Jos Buttler's 52 off 27. He was well supported by Washington Sundar, who played a brilliant knock of 55 off 32, while contributions from the middle order ensured GT maintained a strong scoring rate throughout the innings.

DC gave a sensational response, powered by a stunning 92 off 52 from KL Rahul, who kept his side in the hunt with a controlled yet aggressive innings, well assisted by fellow opener Pathum Nissanka, who struck 41 off just 24. However, wickets at crucial intervals dented their momentum despite a strong platform in the chase.

The game went down to the wire with DC needing just nine in the final over, but GT held their nerve under pressure to restrict them to 209/8, sealing a dramatic one-run victory in a high-scoring thriller.

GT skipper Shubman Gill returned to form in style, producing a classy knock of 70 off 45 balls at the top. Walking in early after the loss of Sai Sudharsan, Gill steadied the innings before accelerating beautifully in the middle overs.

His knock, laced with elegant strokeplay and timely boundaries, laid the perfect foundation for a massive total. More importantly, his crucial 104-run stand with Washington Sundar ensured GT maintained control and momentum throughout the innings.

Rashid Khan once again proved why he remains one of the most dangerous T20 bowlers in the world, delivering a match-defining spell of 3/17 and returning to form. With DC cruising at one stage, Rashid struck at the perfect moment, removing Nitish Rana and Sameer Rizvi off successive balls to derail the chase. He then returned to dismiss Axar Patel, further tightening GT’s grip on the game.

David Miller nearly pulled off a stunning heist with a breathtaking unbeaten 41 off just 20 balls. Walking in during a tense phase, Miller shifted gears brilliantly in the death overs and kept DC in the hunt till the very end. His fearless hitting brought the equation down dramatically in the final over. However, despite his late heroics, the Capitals fell agonisingly short by just one run, as Miller’s show ended in heartbreak.

"Yeah, obviously the way we are playing, I think both teams played a very good, I think, a very good cricket. And yeah, I think, this type of close game, you can, you know, point out anything. So I think, yes, we played very good cricket. As I said earlier, in a close chase, in a close game, you can point out a lot of things. But I think in the chase, I think we could have played smarter. The crucial time at which the wickets fell, I think if that hadn't happened, we could have finished the chase earlier. (on KL Rahul) Yeah, obviously, he played a very good innings. And if you know, the way the powerplay was going, after that he kept the momentum going. When the wickets were falling, he kept the momentum going from one side. He did not let the run-rate go down. So I think it was very good batting. I think we are playing good cricket and yes, we will finish in the next match."

"All the 3 games we have played have gone till the last over. Very pleased to get over the line on this one. I still believed we could win. We were discussing whether to go for the yorker or the slower one. We thought a good slower one would be difficult to hit for a boundary. Apart from my overthrows, those 5-6 runs made a difference. Every effort and every misfield or every good effort counts in such games. 210 was 10-15 runs above par. It wasn't easy to get the big boundaries with the slowness of the wicket. We knew if we bowled well, we could get over the line. Need to sleep and see how I come out tomorrow."

"Quite happy how things are coming. Pretty happy with the win. It made it special. I have felt great since the last 7-8 months. I had a bit of break, the body is feeling great. I am trying to land the ball in the right areas as much as possible. After long, I got such a wicket. As a leg spinner, you want such a wicket."
