The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will battle it out against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Eliminator of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh on Wednesday, May 27. The winner of the game will play the side which loses Qualifier 1 for a chance to compete in the showpiece final in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
The sides have already faced each other twice this season, with SRH coming out on top in both of those matches. This includes a convincing 57-run victory in Hyderabad, before a five-wicket win in Jaipur towards the end of April.
The Sunrisers will be looking to reach their second IPL final in three years and win their first title since 2016. RR, on the other hand, last reached the final in 2022, losing to the Gujarat Titans. The Royals have not tasted IPL success since winning the inaugural tournament back in 2008.
Yet another ground in the IPL that heavily favours the batters, the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium has already seen the side batting first score in excess of 250. There have also been two instances this season where a total in excess of 220 has been chased down with relative ease. Batting is also a lot easier with shorter boundaries and a quicker outfield, making it a batter’s paradise.
Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan (WK), Heinrich Klaasen, Salil Arora, Smaran Ravichandran, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Pat Cummins (C), Harshal Patel, Shivang Kumar, Eshan Malinga, Sakib Hussain
Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Riyan Parag (C), Donovan Ferreira, Shubham Dubey, Dasun Shanaka, Jofra Archer, Nandre Burger, Yash Raj Punja, Brijesh Sharma
Ishan Kishan already has two outstanding scores against the Royals in this season’s IPL. The left-handed captain, who stood in as SRH’s captain in the absence of Pat Cummins, hit 91 from 44 balls when the two sides met in Hyderabad, before scoring 74 runs at a strike-rate of 238.70 in Jaipur. The Jharkhand star has scored a total of 569 runs in the tournament at an average of 40.64.
Jofra Archer has picked up four wickets against RR in this season’s IPL, two in each game. The England international played a vital role in helping his side reach the playoffs, following figures of 3 for 17 in their final league stage match. Overall, the right-arm pacer has taken 21 wickets in IPL 2026.
