Gujarat Titans produced a composed all-round performance to secure a five-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders in Match 25 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on Friday, April 17.
Asked to bat first, KKR posted a competitive total of 180 but failed to fully capitalise after a shaky start. Cameron Green was the standout performer with a brilliant 79 off 55 balls, anchoring the innings and keeping KKR in the contest. He found support from Rovman Powell (27 off 20) and late contributions from Ramandeep Singh (17 off 8), but the lack of strong partnerships early on hurt their momentum.
GT’s bowling unit delivered timely breakthroughs, with Kagiso Rabada leading the charge with three wickets, while Mohammed Siraj and Ashok Sharma picked up two wickets each to keep KKR in check.
In response, GT chased down the target efficiently, reaching 181/5 in 19.4 overs. Captain Shubman Gill led from the front with a superb 86 off 50 balls, while Jos Buttler (25 off 15) and Sai Sudharsan (22 off 16) provided solid starts. Contributions from Glenn Phillips and Rahul Tewatia ensured GT crossed the finish line without much panic.
KKR’s innings got off to the worst possible start as they lost early wickets in the powerplay, including skipper Ajinkya Rahane for a duck. The team struggled to build momentum, managing just 37 runs in the first six overs while losing key top-order batters. This early collapse once again exposed KKR’s vulnerability at the top and put pressure on the middle order.

After a quiet start to the season, Cameron Green stepped up with a fine knock. His 79 off 55 balls was a blend of composure and controlled aggression, helping KKR recover from early setbacks. Green stitched crucial partnerships and ensured his side reached a competitive total, marking his arrival in IPL 2026 in style.

Shubman Gill showcased his class with a captain’s knock, guiding the chase with authority. His 86 off 50 deliveries set the foundation for GT’s victory, as he paced the innings brilliantly and kept the required rate under control. Gill’s leadership and batting were instrumental in ensuring a smooth chase despite a few wickets falling at regular intervals.
