The Gujarat Titans (GT) got the record even when they defeated the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by four wickets in Match 42 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday, April 30.
Being put into bat by the hosts, RCB managed to score just 155 runs before losing all 10 of their wickets. Devdutt Padikkal top-scored with 40, but he lacked any real support all innings long. Arshad Khan was the pick of the bowlers for GT, taking three wickets, while Jason Holder and Rashid Khan chipped in with two wickets each.
In reply, GT chased down the total in 15.5 overs thanks to their captain, Shubman Gill, who scored a 17-ball 43 to give his side a great launchpad to go on and make the chase look simple. Other important contributions to the chase included Jos Buttler’s 39 and Rahul Tewatia’s 27 not out towards the end to see his side through. The win takes GT to 10 points from nine matches, and they are now just two points behind the playoff spots.
As is the case with almost every IPL game, GT vs RCB also saw a plethora of records and milestones being reached by players from both camps. These include some of T20 cricket’s greatest ever players, including Virat Kohli and former England captain Buttler.
