Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are taking on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 15 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. With both teams experiencing contrasting starts to their campaign, the ongoing clash has started with a promise of being a gripping contest.
KKR are still searching for their first win of the season and currently find themselves languishing near the bottom of the table. After suffering two heavy defeats, their only point came from a rain-abandoned encounter, leaving them under pressure to deliver in front of their home crowd.
On the other hand, LSG arrived at this encounter with confidence after a thrilling win in their previous outing. Led by Rishabh Pant, the side showed outstanding composure while chasing, with strong contributions from both the batting and bowling units, including a standout performance from Mohammed Shami.
With KKR desperate to open their account and LSG aiming to build momentum and climb into the top four, fans can expect an intense and high-energy battle between the two sides.
Lucknow Super Giants' captain Rishabh Pant has won the toss and elected to bowl first. He said he trusts his bowlers and would want to put KKR under pressure by inviting them to bat first at the historic deck of the Eden.
The mystery spinner from the West Indies, Sunil Narine, has made his return to the playing XI after missing the PBKS clash due to abdominal issues, which, nonetheless, was abandoned due to rain. Meanwhile, Varun Chakravarthy is still struggling with his hand injury and has been replaced by all-rounder Rovman Powell. Blessing Muzarabani, on the other hand, will be warming the bench.
"We wanted to bowl. (Referring to his decision to bat in the previous match) That match didn't get over, so you never know. Sunil comes in, Varun is still recovering from his hand injury. Whem Cam Green bowls then we have an extra bowler."
"Looking to bowl first. We want to put the opposition into bat, we trust our bowlers to do the job. Definitely a victory adds to the atmosphere in the team. We are playing with the same team. Our feel our top order is batting heavy, but we trust our top order to get us through."
