The final league-stage clash of the 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League will see Kolkata Knight Riders take on Delhi Capitals at the iconic Eden Gardens on May 24. With both teams still mathematically alive in the playoff race, the encounter promises to be an intense and high-pressure contest.
KKR currently sit sixth on the points table with 13 points from 13 matches. The three-time champions must win this fixture to keep their playoff hopes alive. However, qualification will also depend on the outcomes of other matches. Despite an inconsistent campaign, Kolkata have shown flashes of brilliance throughout the season and will look to finish the league stage strongly in front of their home crowd.
On the other hand, DC are placed eighth with 12 points from 13 matches. Their road to qualification is extremely difficult, as they not only need a victory but also require several other results to go in their favour. Nevertheless, the Capitals will aim to end their campaign positively and put pressure on KKR with an all-out performance.
One of the key battles to watch will be between Finn Allen and Mitchell Starc. Allen has been sensational for KKR this season, scoring 329 runs in 10 matches at a staggering strike rate of 219.33. His fearless power-hitting at the top has often given Kolkata explosive starts. Starc, meanwhile, has picked up nine wickets in just five games and remains one of DC’s biggest threats with the new ball. His pace and swing could test Allen early in the innings.
