The Kolkata Knight Riders beat the Gujarat Titans by 29 runs in Match 60 of the 2026 Indian Premier League at the Eden Gardens.
Being put into bat, the Knight Riders were off to a brisk start, reaching 56-1 at the end of the powerplay. They lost skipper Ajinkya Rahane cheaply, but Finn Allen motored along. Once the powerplay was done, Alien took the attack to the Titans’ bowlers, reaching his half-century off 21 balls in the eighth over. Off his next 13 balls, he scored 43 runs, as he mercilessly went after the Titans bowlers. He fell for 93 off 35 balls, which set the platform for the Knight Riders.
From there on, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who played second fiddle to Allen, took on the role of the main batter. He was ably supported by Cameron Green, as the pair continued on, stitching an unbeaten stand of 108 off just 53 balls. Raghuvanshi reached his half-century off 32 balls before his death-overs onslaught saw him finish unbeaten on 82 off just 44 balls. Green finished unbeaten on 52 off 28 balls, with the three-time champions finishing on a mammoth 247/2.
The Titans started their innings brilliantly, with Sai Sudharsan taking the attack to the Knight Riders' bowlers early on in the powerplay. Sudharsan was hit on the elbow, due to which he had to retire early in the third over. Nishant Sindhu, walking in at number 3, fell cheaply, which brought out the experienced Jos Buttler, who, with Titans’ skipper Shubman Gill, went about rebuilding their innings with the daunting total ahead.
The pair stitched a brilliant stand of 128 off 73 but seemed unable to catch up to the scoring rate. Gill fell for a well-made 85 off 49 balls, and Buttler fell for 57 off 35 balls. Sudharsan came back out to bat in the end, remaining unbeaten on 53 off 28 balls. Sunil Narine, playing his 200th IPL game, finished with brilliant figures of 2 for 29 as the Knight Riders kept their slim playoff hopes alive with a dominant win.
The three-time champions now sit seventh in the table with 11 points from 12 games. They will need wins in their final two games and hope results go in their favour to make the playoffs. The Titans sit in second place, with 16 points in 13 games, needing to win their final game to seal a dominant spot on the table.
