IPL 2026 : Kuldeep Yadav gets furious after dropped catch denies him hat-trick in KKR vs DC match

Delhi Capitals (DC) ended their IPL 2026 campaign on a strong note with an impressive 40-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens. While Delhi’s batting unit delivered a commanding total of 203/5, it was spinner Kuldeep Yadav who completely shifted the momentum with a superb spell in the second innings.
The left-arm wrist spinner returned to the playing XI after missing a few recent matches and immediately reminded everyone of his match-winning ability. However, the biggest talking point of his spell came during a dramatic hat-trick opportunity that ended in heartbreak.
Kuldeep had already put KKR under pressure after dismissing Cameron Green and the well-set Ajinkya Rahane in quick succession. The very next ball saw him trap Rinku Singh for a golden duck, instantly putting the spinner on a hat-trick. With the entire stadium anticipating a special moment, Kuldeep delivered another teasing ball to batter Tejasvi Dahiya. The delivery found the outside edge and flew directly towards wicketkeeper Abishek Porel behind the stumps.
However, Porel failed to hold onto the relatively simple chance, denying Kuldeep what would have been a memorable IPL hat-trick. The spinner’s immediate reaction quickly went viral, as he looked visibly frustrated and disappointed after seeing the opportunity slip away.

Despite missing out on the hat-trick, Kuldeep still finished with outstanding figures of 3/29 in his four overs and played a crucial role in triggering KKR’s collapse. Earlier in the evening, KL Rahul powered Delhi Capitals with a blistering 60 off just 30 balls, while captain Axar Patel added a quickfire 39 to help DC post a massive total.
KKR initially stayed in the chase through Rahane’s aggressive half-century, but Kuldeep’s double strike completely changed the complexion of the match. Delhi eventually bowled KKR out for 163 to seal a dominant win in their final game of the season. Kuldeep was later named Player of the Match for his brilliant performance and admitted after the game that he was pleased to finish the campaign strongly despite an inconsistent season overall.
