In a game which literally had everything, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) prevailed in a Super Over against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 38 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, April 26.
After being put into bat, KKR posted 155 from their 20 overs, thanks to Rinku Singh’s late onslaught. The left-handed batter scored an unbeaten 83 to help the 2024 champions recover to a decent total after Mohsin Khan wrecked their top order with a five-wicket haul. Rinku hit four consecutive sixes of Digvesh Rathi in the final over to set a challenging total.
LSG were slow in reply and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. However, late cameos from Ayush Badoni and Himmat Singh kept them in the game. Then came the turning point. Kartik Tyagi, who was bowling the final over, bowled two no-balls to give the hosts a slimmer hope. KKR, however, were in the driver’s seat when LSG needed seven runs off two balls. Mohammed Shami then hit a six off the last ball to take the tie to a Super Over.
KKR went on to dominate the Super Over. Sunil Narine dismissed Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram with just one run on the board, which Ajinkya Rahane’s side chased down on the very first ball.
This enthralling game saw a bunch of milestones and records being achieved, as has become the case with each IPL game this season. Player of the Match Rinku reached a few personal milestones following a remarkable innings.
