IPL 2026, Match 12: Kolkata Knight Riders vs Punjab Kings Match Preview

Indian Premier League 2026 continues to deliver exciting early-season clashes as Kolkata Knight Riders take on Punjab Kings in Match 12 at the iconic Eden Gardens on Monday, April 6.

Kolkata have had a horrid start to their campaign so far, losing both of the two matches in the season so far. While their batting unit has shown flashes of brilliance, consistency remains a concern. The likes of Finn Allen and the top-order batters have provided momentum at various stages, but the team will be keen to put together a complete performance in front of their home crowd. Playing at Eden Gardens, KKR will look to capitalise on familiar conditions and strong crowd support to build early momentum in the tournament.

On the other hand, Punjab are on a roll this season, like in 2025. They have won both of the matches they have played so far, and will be entering this encounter high on confidence. Their bowling attack looks well-rounded and could pose a serious challenge to KKR’s batting on a surface that often offers assistance to both pacers and spinners.

KKR’s strength lies in their spin options, which could prove decisive on Eden track. However, Varun Chakravarthy's form remains a concern. Punjab, meanwhile, will rely on their power hitters and disciplined bowling unit to counter the home side’s advantage. The battle in the middle overs, particularly against spin, could be the key factor in deciding the outcome of this contest.
