IPL 2026, Match 18: Chennai Super Kings vs Delhi Capitals Match Preview

The five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) winners Chennai Super Kings (CSK) square off against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match 18 of IPL 2026 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday, April 11.
Ruturaj Gaikwad’s CSK are enduring a nightmare start to their campaign, having lost all three of their matches so far. They began with an eight-wicket defeat against Rajasthan Royals, followed by a five-wicket loss to Punjab Kings, and then suffered a heavy 43-run defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bengaluru. With zero points on the table, the pressure is mounting on the skipper and the think tank.
Meanwhile, Axar Patel-led Delhi Capitals have shown encouraging signs in the early stages of the season. They started off on a strong note with impressive victories, including a dominant win over Mumbai Indians. However, they are coming into this clash on the back of a heartbreaking one-run defeat against Gujarat Titans, a game that slipped away from them despite David Miller’s heroics.
CSK will be desperate to get their first points on the board, but their lack of consistency in both batting and bowling has been a major concern. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals look like a more settled unit with a balanced squad and in-form players, making them slight favourites heading into this contest.
The iconic venue of MA Chidambaram Stadium was CSK's fortress, but it has not been the case for the last few years. They have just won three games out of 15 at their home since IPL 2023. Even the nature of the pitch has become batting friendly. So, expect a high-scoring encounter between CSK and DC.
