In one of the most sought-after encounters of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Mumbai Indians (MI) will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Match 20 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, April 12.
Mumbai Indians looked flawless when they won their opening game against Kolkata Knight Riders. But since the two points they got from their season opener, the Hardik Pandya-led men have failed to put up a show. They've lost to Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals already, which leaves them desperate to win the upcoming encounter.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru, on the other hand, started off with a couple of brilliant wins, but their winning streak was broken by the Riyan Parag-led side, as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made light work of the chase in Guwahati. The defending champions must be eager to register their third win of the season and return to winning ways.
The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai has been extremely friendly in terms of its pitch offering assistance to the batters. That said, it does not mean that bowlers do not enjoy their time in the middle. The pitch, in fact, starts getting a little slower as the night progresses, which can allow bowlers who deliver slower through the air get important breakthroughs.
Rohit Sharma, Ryan Rickelton (WK), Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya (C), Naman Dhir, Mitchell Santner, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Ashwani Kumar, AM Ghazanfar
Virat Kohli, Phil Salt, Rajat Patidar (C), Tim David, Krunal Pandya, Jitesh Sharma (WK), Romario Shepherd, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Abhinandan Singh, Josh Hazlewood, Suyash Sharma
Virat Kohli is undoubtedly one of the most decorated batters in the Indian Premier League. With close to 9000 runs in the cash-rich tournament, Kohli has spearheaded RCB's batting unit right through since the competition began in 2008. With experience and skills backing him, Kohli will want to be the batter with most runs in the game on Sunday.
Pitches don't matter a lot when Jasprit Bumrah comes in to bowl. As a matter of fact, no bowler playing in the upcoming match is as accustomed to the conditions at Wankhede as the MI spearhead pacer. The ace bowler has the ability to both during all facets of the game, which makes him an extremely reliable option for any captain to have in the dressing room.
