IPL 2026, Match 33: Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings Match Preview

Mumbai Indians (MI) will face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match No. 33 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Thursday, April 23, at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
The Mumbai-based side is currently placed seventh on the table, having endured a disappointing campaign so far. With two wins from their first six fixtures, the five-time champions have struggled to find consistency in both batting and bowling departments. They are coming into this clash on the back of a few underwhelming performances and will be desperate to turn things around in front of their home crowd.
Meanwhile, CSK find themselves in a similar position, and they too have also lacked consistency this season. The Men in Yellow have shown flashes of brilliance but have failed to maintain momentum, resulting in a mixed run of results.
With both teams looking to rediscover their rhythm, this high-voltage encounter promises to be a crucial contest between two IPL giants.
The pitch at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, is known to be a batting paradise, with a lightning-quick outfield. So far, the iconic venue in Mumbai has hosted three matches, and in all six innings, the scores have exceeded the 190-run mark. This clearly indicates the flat nature of the wicket, with run-scoring in the first innings being like a cakewalk.
