In an all-important clash of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Gujarat Titans (GT) will be taking on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Match No. 46 of the marquee T20 tournament on Sunday, May 03, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Gujarat Titans have been in excellent form of late, clinching clinical victories in three out of the last five games they have played. They are coming on the back of a convincing win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, where they ensured a complete all-round show against the defending champions, winning by four wickets.
Punjab Kings, on the other hand, have been the team to beat this season. They lost their first game of the season against Rajasthan Royals after maintaining an unbeaten streak for eight games. However, nothing can stop them from dominating given the kind of form they are in. As a result, it will be interesting to see if they can return to winning ways against GT.
The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad offers a very balanced wicket and looked excellent for a run-chase in the previous encounter. Wicket was slow in the first half of the match during the GT vs RCB clash, but got better for batting once the cracks opened up. A similar scenario is expected to unfold for the encounter on Sunday as well, with the chasing team supposed to have an upper hand in the contest.
Shubman Gill (C), Sai Sudharsan, Jos Buttler (WK), Jason Holder, Shahrukh Khan, Washington Sundar, Arshad Khan, Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Manav Suthar
Prabhsimran Singh (WK), Shreyas Iyer (C), Cooper Connolly, Suryansh Shedge, Nehal Wadhera, Marcus Stoinis, Marco Jansen, Lockie Ferguson, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, Vijaykumar Vyshak
One of the biggest reasons that Punjab Kings have turned out successful this season thus far is because of the way their captain Shreyas Iyer has been scoring runs on a consistent basis. His form has been the key to PBKS posting daunting totals and chasing big targets with utmost comfort. Iyer is expected to fire from his bat on Sunday.
South African pacer Kagiso Rabada has been a terrific performer for Gujarat Titans, especially due to his sheer ability to strike important breakthroughs. Another thing that stands out about the ace bowler is his skill to stem the flow of runs from one end and apply pressure on the opposition, which eventually results in fruitful outcome for the Titans. It will be interesting to see how Rabada fares against Punjab.
