IPL 2026, Match 48: Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings Match Preview

Delhi Capitals (DC) are set to face the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in match No. 48 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, May 5.
Axar Patel and Co. finally ended their losing streak of three games when they won their last game against the Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets. The Capitals successfully chased a 226-run target with five balls to spare. The top-order is in sensational form, with KL Rahul and Nitish Rana scoring runs consistently. Pathum Nissanka returned to the side in the last game and smashed his maiden IPL half-century.
On the other hand, the Chennai Super Kings have won four games and lost five in IPL 2026. The Men in Yellow defeated arch-rivals Mumbai Indians by eight wickets in their last match. They chased a 160-run target in just 18.1 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad is back in form, and this comes as a massive relief for the Super Kings' management and fans. He has scored half-centuries in the last two matches and also remained unbeaten.
These two teams met each other earlier in the tournament at the MA Chidambaram Stadium last month. Chennai won by 23 runs on the back of Sanju Samson's exhilarating century.
The Arun Jaitley Stadium is expected to provide a fantastic surface on Tuesday. In the four matches hosted at this venue in IPL 2026, the average first-innings score is around 178. The last game was an aberration, where the Capitals were bowled out for 75 by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who won by nine wickets in 6.3 overs. The boundaries are not too big, and even the mishits go the distance on this ground. The team batting first should at least look to put on a 200-plus total.
Pathum Nissanka, KL Rahul (WK), Nitish Rana, Tristan Stubbs, Ashutosh Sharma, Sameer Rizvi, Axar Patel (C), Kyle Jamieson, Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, T Natarajan.
Sanju Samson (WK), Ruturaj Gaikwad (C), Urvil Patel, Kartik Sharma, Dewald Brevis, Shivam Dube, Jamie Overton, Prashant Veer, Noor Ahmad, Anshul Kamboj, Mukesh Choudhary.
