IPL 2026, Match 58: Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians Match Preview

The Punjab Kings (PBKS) host the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on May 14 in Match 58 of the 2026 Indian Premier League.
Punjab Kings come into this clash on the back of four successive losses after a brilliant start to the campaign in which they were unbeaten in their first seven games. They played their first of three home games at Dharamshala on May 11, losing to the Delhi Capitals, who chased down a total of 211. Despite the recent blip, they sit in fourth place on the table, with 13 points from 11 games. They will need to get back to winning ways urgently to translate the strong start in the season to a playoff spot.
Mumbai Indians have been eliminated from the competition after their eighth loss of the season against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Raipur on May 10. They have patchy all season, and despite early promise and a star-studded squad, have struggled to materialise their on-paper strength into results. They sit in ninth place on the table with just six points from 11 matches.
The two teams met previously this season at the Wankhede Stadium on April 16. Being put into bat, MI managed a total of 195/6 in their 20 overs, courtesy of a magnificent unbeaten 112 off 60 balls from Quinton de Kock on his return in blue and gold, and a 31-ball 50 from Naman Dhir. Arshdeep Singh finished with figures of 3 for 22, which included a lethal spell in the powerplay where he dismissed Ryan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav.
The Kings made light work of the chase despite losing Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly early to the bowling of AM Ghazanfar, as Prabhsimran Singh scored an unbeaten 80 off 39 balls and captain Shreyas Iyer scored a 35-ball 66, with the Kings romping home with seven wickets in hand and 21 balls to spare.
The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala is one of the most scenic venues in the country. But aesthetics aside, it is one of the most batting-friendly venues in the country. The black soil pitch is hard and offers consistent bounce, allowing batters to play their shots freely. The high altitude means that the ball travels in the air much faster, making it a prominent six-hitting ground. Seamers get lateral movement in the air and off the surface in both innings with the new ball.
Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh (wk), Cooper Connolly, Shreyas Iyer (capt), Marcus Stoinis, Suryansh Shedge, Marco Jansen, Lockie Ferguson, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, Yash Thakur
Ryan Rickelton (wk), Naman Dhir, Suryakumar Yadav (capt), Tilak Varma, Will Jacks, Raj Bawa, Corbin Bosch, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, AM Ghazanfar, Jasprit Bumrah
