IPL 2026, Match 70: Kolkata Knight Riders vs Delhi Capitals Match Preview

The three-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders will continue their march towards IPL playoffs at the iconic Eden Gardens, Kolkata, as they take on their long time rivals Delhi Capitals on May 24 in Match 70 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
It has been a stunning turnaround for the Kolkata-based franchise after a disastrous start to their season. They have won four of their last five matches and are on a roll. The team is at the sixth position in the points table with 13 points to their name, and a win against DC will solidify their chances of qualifying. But it all depends on what Rajasthan Royals do against their match against Mumbai Indians. If RR beat MI, then both PBKS and KKR will be out of the race.
Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, are barely alive in the competition, as they need many scenarios to go their way to qualify for the playoffs. They are currently at the eighth position in the points table, with just 12 points to their name.
The iconic venue of Eden Gardens will host the match. The pitch at the venue is known to be a batting friendly deck, with lightning quick outfield. Teams generally prefer to chase here as the pitch gets better as the game progresses. In IPL 2026 though, there has been some kind of assistance for the spinners in the pitch at the Gardens.
