Delhi Capitals (DC) square off against Mumbai Indians (MI) in match No. 8 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, April 4.
Axar Patel's DC will be playing their first home game of the season after winning their campaign opener against Lucknow Super Giants at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium earlier this week. In this game, the Capitals' bowlers did well to bowl out Lucknow for 141 in 18.4 overs. In reply, the visitors lost four quick wickets inside the powerplay, but youngsters Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs played fantastic knocks to take their team home in 17.1 overs.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians played their first game at home against the Kolkata Knight Riders. The five-time champions registered their first win in the opening game of an IPL season since 2012 after losing 13 back-to-back encounters. Hardik Pandya and Co. chased down a 221-run target with six wickets and five balls to spare. While Shardul Thakur starred with the ball, bagging a three-for, Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma slammed blistering half-centuries to orchestrate a brilliant run chase.
Both teams are well-balanced and coming into the contest on the back of morale-boosting wins. Fans can expect an intriguing encounter in what promises to be a high-scoring clash.
Expect the Arun Jaitley Stadium to provide a belter of a track. Also, the boundaries are on the shorter side, so a lot of sixes could be hit across the two innings. While teams have preferred chasing totals, it won't be easy to bat second if the team batting first posts a 250-plus total. The highest first-innings score at this venue in the IPL is 278/3, which the Sunrisers Hyderabad posted against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
