Chennai Super Kings faced their second straight loss of the Indian Premier League 2026 after they faced a defeat against Punjab Kings in Match 7 of the ongoing tournament at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on Friday, April 03. Punjab, meanwhile, now have four points on the board, courtesy of their back-to-back wins in the season.

A 210-run target set by the five-time champions was not enough, as PBKS continued to assert their dominance against the Chennai-based franchise, completing yet another clinical run chase.

Visiting captain Shreyas Iyer had won the toss and opted to take the field first. The decision eventually worked wonders, as the pitch opened up and became better to bat in the second half of what seemed like a one-sided encounter. With the bat, openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh gave a thunderous start to the run chase. But skipper Shreyas Iyer was the main orchestrator of the chase with his half-century. Cooper Connolly's 36 off 22 now means that both Orange and Purple Caps belong to PBKS players.
