The Kolkata Knight Riders beat the Delhi Capitals by eight wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Match 51 of the 2026 Indian Premier League.
Being put into bat, the Capitals started their innings strongly, with openers KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka putting on a 49-run stand. Rahul fell to the bowling of Kartik Tyagi, but Nissanka carried on. The end of the powerplay saw the Capitals in a commanding position with a score of 55/1.
Nitish Rana fell to Cameron Green in the eighth over, after which the Knight Riders spinners tightened the screws in the middle overs. Sameer Rizvi fell to Sunil Narine, while Anukul Roy removed the well-set Pathum Nissanka for 50, and castled Tristan Stubbs in the same over. The Capitals went from 74/1 to 89/5, a blow they never recovered from. A 28-ball 39 from Ashutosh Sharma took them to 142/8.
The Capitals, though, were handed an early break as the Knight Riders lost Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi in unfortunate fashion. Finn Allen and Cameron Green dug in to ensure no more wickets fell, while also chipping away at the score with regular boundaries. Allen reached his maiden half-century off 33 balls, and then teed off, as he took the Capitals bowlers to all parts, notching up his maiden IPL century off just 47 balls and taking the Knight Riders home with 34 balls to spare. Cameron Green scored a 27-ball 33 as the pair put on an unbeaten stand of 116 runs off just 64 balls.
The win is the Knight Riders’ fourth on the bounce, which keeps them alive in the season with four matches remaining. The Delhi Capitals have lost their seventh match of the season, and with three games left, will need a miracle if they are to make way into the playoffs.
