The Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat the Chennai Super Kings by 43 runs in Match 11 of the 2026 Indian Premier League, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, in another episode of the fierce rivalry between the two teams.
Being put into bat first, RCB raced to 51 for 1 in the powerplay, a slow start by their lofty standards as Phil Salt and Viart Kohli started cautiously, with some good bowling from Khaleel Ahmed. Anshul Kamboj picked up the big wicket of Kohli in the fifth over before Devdutt Padikkal and Phil Salt stitched a partnership of 56, which continued the caution from the powerplay.
Salt's dismissal for 46 brought in captain Rajat Patidar, who began the carnage with 58-run partnership off just 21 balls with Paddikal. Padikkal reached his fifty, his second of the season in two games, in just 28 balls, but fell next ball, bringing Tim David onto the crease.
The Australian big-hitter annihilated the CSK bowlers on his way to an unbeaten 70 off just 25 balls. His innings consisted of three fours and eight maximums, as RCB got to 97 runs in the last five overs, ascending to 250/3 at the end of their 20 overs. Captain Patidar, reduced to spectator during David's onslaught, finished unbeaten on 48 off just 19 balls.
In response, Chennai Super Kings were unable to get their innings underway, with RCB picking up wickets at key intervals. Jacob Duffy, continuing his form from the first game, picked up the big wickets of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson in the powerplay.
Sarfaraz Khan scored a brilliant 50 off just 25 balls, while Prashant Veer (43 off 29) and Jamie Overton (37 off 16) coming in a consolation effort, as they were bowled out for 207. But RCB were too dominant for the Chennai Super Kings, who lost their third game on the bounce.
CSK players cheking their position in points table
I’ve lived through the time when a 30 run over would be such a big deal it would be replayed in every match for the next one week and be in the headline of the sports page
RCB made 152 in last 9 overs. 10 years back, in the mesozoic era of t20 cricket, Virat Kohli and ABD made 153 of the last 8 overs vs the Gujrat Lions.
Bro was in a different mood today
The defending champions, RCB, are off to a flying start in IPL 2026.Bowling, batting, finishing, fielding, they’ve got it all clicking. they’re set for a great season ahead.
First time saw a batter giving a fist bump to the bowler for acknowledging how good the thought and execution were from the bowler when the bowler is shouting in batter's face. Does Gandhigiri in 'Lage Raho Munnabhai' style, comes back with jhappi of luck. Then launches Violence.
