The Rajasthan Royals beat the Royal Challengers Bengaluru by six wickets in Match 16 of the 2026 Indian Premier League. This win at the Baraspara Stadium meant that the Royals finish their Guwahati leg of the campaign unbeaten, emerging victorious in three out of three games played here.
Being put into bat on a Guwahati wicket that had seen rain over the last few days, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru were rocked early by Jofra Archer’s double-strike in the powerplay, including Phil Salt's wicket off the first ball of the match.
They were dealt another massive blow when Ravi Bishnoi picked up the wickets of the well-set Virat Kohli and Krunal Pandya, followed up by the dismissals of Jitesh Sharma and Tim David, who fell to Brijesh Sharma, leaving the defending champions stranded at 94/6. Romario Shepherd played a cameo of 22 before falling to Ravindra Jadeja, with the score at 125/7.
In between the chaos, Rajat Patidar went on unfettered at the other end, while Impact player Venkatesh Iyer joined him as they put on an important parternship of 41 off just 19 balls. Patidar fell for 63, but Venkatesh carried on, taking 21 runs off the final over bowled by Sandeep Sharma as RCB finished for 201/8.
In response, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi started the game brilliantly, but the returning Josh Hazlewood dismissed Jaiswal for 13. Despite that, Sooryavanshi ripped into the RCB bowlers, reaching his second half-century of the season, off just 15 balls. Dhruv Jurel joined Vaibhav in taking the RCB bowlers down, as the Royals finished the powerplay on a whopping 97/1.
Sooryavanshi was dismissed for a brilliant 78 off just 26 balls. His dismissal brought a flurry of wickets, leaving the Royals at 134/4. But Jurel, who was going on meticulously, ensured in a calculated response as the Royals completed the chase with two overs to spare. Jurel remained unbeaten on 81 off 43 balls, while Jadeja remaining unbeaten on 24 off 25.
