Mumbai Indians (MI) have strengthened their squad by bringing in Mahipal Lomror and Ruchit Ahir as injury replacements ahead of their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 fixture against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Wankhede Stadium. Lomror replaces Quinton de Kock, while Ruchit comes in for Raj Angad Bawa, both of whom have been ruled out due to injuries.

Mumbai Indians have endured a difficult campaign, losing nine of their thirteen matches and struggling to maintain consistency in both batting and bowling. Despite a strong lineup and Hardik Pandya’s leadership, the team has failed to close out key moments in matches, leaving them out of playoff contention. They enter this contest after a defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders and will look to restore pride in front of their home fans.

South African wicketkeeper-batter suffered a tendon injury in his left wrist before Mumbai Indians’ clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), while Bawa picked up a ligament tear in his right thumb during the team’s previous encounter against Punjab Kings. Both players have returned to their respective homes and are currently recovering from their injuries.

Ryan Rickelton has been MI’s standout batter this season, scoring 436 runs in 11 matches, while Corbin Bosch leads their bowling charts with 11 wickets in just five games.

The upcoming clash between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals is expected to be a crucial encounter for pride, with both sides looking to end their league stage on a positive note. MI will rely on their experienced core and young talent to deliver a strong performance at the Wankhede Stadium, where home conditions often favor aggressive batting and high-scoring games.

With the season already decided for them, the focus for Pandya’s side will be on building momentum, testing bench strength, and giving opportunities to emerging players ahead of future campaigns. Rajasthan Royals will also aim to capitalise on Mumbai Indians’ inconsistent form and try to qualify for the playoffs.
