Mumbai Indians’ (MI) spinner Raghu Sharma had a moment to remember as he picked up his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) wicket, but it was his heartfelt celebration that stole the limelight against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
The breakthrough came against debutant Akshat Raghuwanshi, whom Sharma dismissed via a caught-and-bowled effort. However, immediately after the dismissal, the bowler pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket and displayed an emotional message, drawing attention from fans and commentators.
“A very painful 15 years by divine mercy of Gorudev ended today. Thanks Mumbai Indians (Blue and Gold) for giving me this opportunity. Ever grateful. Jai Sri Ram,” the note read.
The dismissal itself was a result of clever flight and drift. Raghuwanshi charged down the track in a premeditated move but was beaten in the air. Attempting a defensive push, he got an inside edge onto his pad, which caused the ball to pop back towards Sharma.
The bowler made no mistake in completing a simple return catch, sending the youngster back for 11 off seven deliveries. The video of the emotional moment was later shared by Mumbai Indians on their official social media handles, quickly going viral among fans. It was indeed an emotional moment for the MI spinner.

The left-hander smashed 63 off just 21 balls, including eight sixes, turning the momentum heavily in LSG’s favour. Mitchell Marsh provided a strong start with 44 off 25, while Josh Inglis chipped in with a quick 13.
Skipper Rishabh Pant got a start but fell for 15, as Aiden Markram (31*) and Himmat Singh (40*) added crucial runs towards the end. For Mumbai Indians, Corbin Bosch picked up two wickets, while Raghu Sharma claimed his maiden IPL scalp.
