Sunrisers Hyderabad pulled off a record-breaking chase at Wankhede Stadium, defeating Mumbai Indians by six wickets in a high-scoring encounter in the Indian Premier League 2026 on April 29.
Batting first, Mumbai Indians posted a massive 243/5 in their 20 overs, powered by a sensational unbeaten 123 off 55 balls from Ryan Rickelton, who replaced the injured Quinton de Kock. His innings, laced with 10 fours and eight sixes, came at a staggering strike rate of 223.64. He received solid support from Will Jacks (46), Naman Dhir (22), and skipper Hardik Pandya (31). For Hyderabad, Praful Hinge was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with 2/54.
In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad delivered a stunning batting display, chasing down the daunting target in just 18.4 overs, the highest successful chase at the venue. Travis Head led the charge with a blistering 76 off 30 balls, smashing eight sixes, while Heinrich Klaasen anchored the innings with a composed unbeaten 65 off 30 deliveries. Their aggressive approach ensured the required rate never became a concern.
For Mumbai, AM Ghazanfar picked up two wickets, but it wasn’t enough to halt SRH’s momentum. With this victory, Sunrisers Hyderabad climbed to third place with 12 points from nine matches, while Mumbai Indians slipped to ninth, suffering their sixth loss in eight games.
