IPL 2026 : Mitchell Marsh suffers unlucky run-out after blistering knock during LSG vs CSK clash

The IPL 2026 clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium delivered another dramatic moment as Mitchell Marsh fell victim to a cruel slice of bad luck just when a century looked inevitable. The Australian all-rounder was in destructive form throughout the chase, tearing apart the CSK bowling attack with fearless strokeplay. However, his sensational innings came to an abrupt end after a freak deflection from bowler Mukesh Choudhary crashed into the stumps at the non-striker’s end.
The incident unfolded on the fifth delivery of the 12th over during LSG’s chase of 188. Mukesh delivered a full ball outside off stump to Nicholas Pooran, who drilled it powerfully straight back down the ground. Mukesh reacted instinctively in his follow-through and managed to get his fingertips on the ball. Unfortunately for Marsh, the slight deflection sent the ball directly onto the stumps at the non-striker’s end while he was backing up outside his crease.
The Australian opener immediately realized he was short of his ground and began walking back without waiting for the umpire’s decision. The dismissal left both the crowd and Marsh visibly disappointed, especially considering how close he was to reaching a memorable hundred.
Unlucky for Lucknow! 🫢😳

Although he missed out on a century, Marsh completely dominated the contest during his stay at the crease. The right-hander smashed a breathtaking 90 off just 38 deliveries, dismantling both pace and spin with equal authority. He raced to his half-century in only 21 balls and maintained the attacking momentum throughout the powerplay and middle overs.
His aggressive intent ensured CSK never managed to settle into consistent bowling rhythms. Marsh’s innings featured a barrage of boundaries and towering sixes, reminding everyone why he remains one of the most dangerous white-ball batters in world cricket.

The foundation of the chase was laid through a massive opening partnership between Marsh and fellow Australian Josh Inglis. The duo added 135 runs for the first wicket, virtually taking the game away from Chennai before the halfway stage of the innings.
While Marsh played the aggressor’s role, Inglis complemented him brilliantly with calculated strokeplay at the other end. Their partnership left CSK struggling for answers as the required rate rapidly dropped. Thanks to the dominant opening stand, Lucknow Super Giants comfortably chased down the target with 20 balls remaining. While their season has already ended, they can still spoil the parties of other teams competing for a place in the top four.
