IPL 2026: Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians, Match 13 - Who Said What?

Rajasthan Royals beat Mumbai Indians in a rain-affected game by 27 runs at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati in Match 13 of the 2026 Indian Premier League.
Being put into bat after the game was reduced to 11 overs due to rain, the Royals got off to a searing start, as they scored 59 runs in the 3.2-over powerplay, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavansi taking apart the sordid bowling from MI bowlers.
Vaibhav was dismissed for 39, while Jaiswal carried on to finish unbeaten on 77 off just 32 balls, as the Royals posted a mammoth 150/3. Allah Ghazanfar picked up two wickets on his return to the playing XI for the five-time champions.
In response, the Royals had the Mumbai Indians down at 30/3 at the end of their powerplay. The Royals tightened the screws throughout with key breakthroughs and accurate bowling, as the Mumbai Indians were never able to get their innings going. Ravi Bishnoi picked up the two big wickets of Hardik Pandya and Tilak Verma.
Deepak Chahar’s first ball of the match was swatted away for four by Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jasprit Bumrah, bowling to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, in a much-anticipated battle, was hit for six off his first ball by the 15-year old. What occurred in the 3.2 over powerplay was nothing short of a mauling. The young Royals openers took the Mumbai bowlers to the cleaners, as they amassed 59 runs. Four boundaries and six sixes came in the span, as the MI bowlers looked devoid of ideas. The pair has already taken the IPL by storm, and if they carry this on, the Royals will be difficult to stop.
The Rajasthan Royals managed a whopping 59 from their 3.2-over powerplay, with Sooryavanshi and Jaiswal taking Mumbai Indians to the cleaners. In stark contrast, the Royals reduced the five-time champions to 30/3 in their powerplay. While the Mumbai bowlers were full, floaty and erred with their lengths, the Royals quicks were fast, hit the pitch hard and were accurate with their bowling plans.
Jasprit Bumrah was the best bowler in the T20 World Cup. Now, he looks like a shadow of himself. The pace is down and lengths are not as accurate. Bumrah has yet to pick up a wicket after three games. He was taken apart by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in his first over, and finished with relatively expensive figures of 3-0-32-0. Mumbai will hope their ace speedster is back to his best as the season goes on.
"(Bowling in the powerplay) I think we didn't execute the deliveries which we were supposed to and they played well. I think our bowlers need to take the responsibility. As a bowling group, we were not at all up to the mark and they played tremendous cricket. (Needed a better batting approach?) I would not put this game on the batting. This was definitely the bowling unit which had to take responsibility. It's T20 cricket, it's about always bowling those right couple of balls. And if you see 27, that means we are talking about five good balls and five less sixes. So if we would have executed the right balls, yeah, we would have been in the game. But as I said, their openers kind of enforced couple of overs, threw us out of the game. Then throughout we were catching up and yeah, we fell short. (On Vaibhav Sooryavanshi) It's quite fascinating to see a 17 or a 16 year old boy and playing the way he played. At the same point of time, discussing so much about him in the preparation leading up to the game. So yeah, amazing to see the way he bats, the kind of fearlessness he has, the kind of shots he has. I wish him absolute good luck in the future. (On the next game vs RCB) Just learn from the mistakes. The morning will come tomorrow, the sun will rise. So yeah, just learn from our mistakes and prepare well for the next game"
"Feels great. I have always known this to be a strong team because we have a strong and young core. Hopefully we can keep on performing like this. (On new ball bowlers) Jofra's messaging is to go out and bowl as fast as they can. Someone (like him and Burger) who bowls more than 140-145 and has control is crazy. (On where their opening partnership stands in his eyes) Number one. They have got age on their side. Vaibhav is incredible. It is not one-way slogging. Jaiswal has been doing it for 3-4 years now. The skill they have plus their maturity - they are the best going around."
"I had something in my mind because it was only a three-over powerplay, so was thinking who I could take on. DC (Deepak Chahar) bhai was bowling, so I thought I could take him (on). Then Bumrah bhai was going to bowl, so I was thinking Vaibhav can take him and then I can take (on) someone else. It is not easy (playing all formats). Trying my best every single time. Making sure I develop different shots and what shots to use on which wicket. Helps when I prepare well. I am just trying to understand the situation and thinking what I can do for the team. If I know this is required, and these shots are required, I will go for it. (Conversations with Vaibhav) The way he has been playing is tremendous. I also get motivated (looking at him). We have these discussions on how can we go and I keep giving him positive messages - to play freely. He is amazing and understands the game well and is capable of doing stuff himself."
