IPL 2026: RCB vs GT, Qualifier 1 - Top player battles to watch out for

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 Qualifier 1 will witness a high-voltage clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium on Tuesday, May 26.
RCB finished at the top of the points table after securing nine wins and five defeats in 14 league-stage matches. GT also ended the season with an identical win-loss record, but a comparatively lower net run rate pushed them to second place. The two sides faced each other twice during the league stage, with both teams winning comfortably on their respective home grounds. That result underlines how closely matched these teams are heading into the playoffs.
Both RCB and GT boast several in-form batters and impactful bowlers, making this contest one of the most balanced encounters of the season. With explosive batting units, experienced pacers, and quality all-round options on both sides, the match is expected to remain competitive throughout and could swing in either team’s favour depending on key moments under pressure.
One of the biggest contests to watch will be between Sai Sudharsan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Sai Sudharsan has been the standout batter of the season and currently holds the Orange Cap with 638 runs. His calm approach and ability to anchor the innings have been crucial for GT throughout the tournament.
On the other hand, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has led RCB’s bowling attack brilliantly and sits at the top of the wicket charts with 24 wickets, earning him the Purple Cap. His ability to swing the new ball and deliver breakthroughs in the powerplay could test Sudharsan early in the innings.
