In IPL 2026, the action isn’t just limited to the field – it’s equally alive on social media. And this time, the spotlight shifted from players to Shresta Iyer, sister of Shreyas Iyer, who stole the show after the rain-hit clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Eden Gardens.
The match itself ended in disappointment, with rain forcing an early abandonment. But what followed online turned the mood around. Shresta shared a light-hearted Instagram reel that instantly caught fans’ attention, thanks to its witty take on the situation.
Her punchline, delivered in Punjabi, quickly went viral: “Saade Punjabiyan da dil vadda hunda hai, lo de ditta ek point.” The humorous line, roughly meaning “We Punjabis have a big heart, so we gave away one point,” perfectly summed up the outcome of the game in a playful way.
Shresta Iyer is no stranger to the spotlight. A professional dancer and social media personality, she has built her own identity beyond being a cricketer’s sibling. Over time, she has become a familiar face for PBKS fans, often sharing engaging content that blends cricket with entertainment.
Earlier this season, she had already gone viral for a celebratory dance video after Punjab Kings defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Her energetic personality and quick sense of humour have helped her connect with fans, making her one of the most relatable off-field figures linked to the IPL.

Meanwhile, the match that sparked this viral moment had started with promise. KKR, led by Ajinkya Rahane, chose to bat first under cloudy skies – a decision that raised a few eyebrows. PBKS made immediate use of the conditions, with Xavier Bartlett striking early blows. He dismissed Finn Allen and Cameron Green in quick succession, leaving KKR struggling at 25/2 within the first four overs.
At that stage, PBKS seemed firmly in control, and the game was shaping up to be an exciting contest. However, the weather had other plans. Rain interrupted play, and despite multiple attempts to resume the match, the outfield remained too wet. Eventually, the game was called off, marking the first washout of IPL 2026.
